A Quarry Is Not a Playground
We have recently received reports of young people entering Bardon Quarry. We want to remind both young people and their parents about the very real dangers of entering active or disused quarry sites.
Quarries can present a number of serious hazards, including:
Deep, cold water Unstable cliff edges and steep drops Loose rocks and uneven ground Hidden machinery and equipment Sudden changes in water depth A fall from a quarry edge or an incident in the water can have devastating consequences.
Please do not enter quarry sites or climb on quarry faces.
Parents and carers: Please speak with young people about the risks and encourage them to stay away from these dangerous areas. If you see someone in immediate danger at a quarry, call 999 and, if it is safe to do so, provide the operator with the exact location.
Think before you enter. One decision could change a life.
